Android:
- Go to settings
- Automatic rules
- Create a new rule from the + button
- Select the matching criteria, these are keywords that can also be found and recognized by the app from the notes of your transactions.
- Type (Income/expense or none for non-specification)
- Actions, once the record is recognized, what will the app do with it? You can either assign a Contact, change category or add labels.
- Push notification (Toggle on/off)*
- Tap the ✅ icon to save
Web App:
- Go to Settings
- Select "Automatic Rules" from the panel on the left and "add new rule" (+)
- On the new window you will need to choose the name of the rule, the trigger (which keywords when found by Board in your records will activate the rule), record type.
- Assign Actions (what will the new rule do?)
- Contact - the rule will assign the records to certain contacts you choose
- Category - change the category - or leave it blank for no change
- Label - create a label (auto-assign to new records - toggle on for it to assign to past and present transactions)
iOS:
- Go to More
- Select Automatic Rules
- Create a rule by selecting the + icon in the top right hand corner
- Create a name for your rule and Select the matching criteria by Record type (Any, Expense or Income) & "Unique Keyword" (Netflix, HBO, Vodafone, account number etc - It has to match the Notes or Payee from your transactions)
- Assign Actions
- Contact - the rule will assign the records to certain contacts you choose
- Category - change the category - or leave it blank for no change
- Label - create a label (auto-assign to new records - toggle on for it to assign to past and present transactions)
*If you have selected the on toggle via push notifications, it will bring you to all the similar transactions, past and present. You can then quickly check over these and select/deselect any transactions you want.
The categories are automatically assigned based on rules that you custom define. In case a record is not assigned to a category, create a new specific rule or update the existing categorization rule.
